Aluminum Draftsman

Role overview

The Aluminum Draftsman will create precise shop, fabrication, and installation drawings for architectural aluminum systems. The position focuses on façade-related works such as curtain walls, windows, doors, skylights, louvers, and similar aluminum applications. It also involves close collaboration with engineering, production, procurement, and site teams to help projects move forward accurately and efficiently.

Qualifications

• A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related discipline is needed.
• The role calls for 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in aluminum works, especially façades, curtain walls, doors, and windows.
• Applicants should have a solid understanding of aluminum systems and façade construction techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed shop drawings from contract documents, specifications, and project needs.
• Produce fabrication drawings covering aluminum profiles, glass, accessories, and hardware.
• Prepare material take-offs and cutting schedules for manufacturing.
• Work with structural, architectural, and MEP drawings to identify and resolve clashes or mismatches.
• Update drawings based on consultant feedback and project revisions.
• Liaise with suppliers and system vendors for profile data, accessories, and technical inputs.
• Provide technical support to estimation and procurement teams when needed.
• Make sure all drawings follow project requirements, local regulations, and company standards.
• Keep drawing logs and follow document control processes.
• Assist site engineers and project managers with technical explanations and clarifications.
• Handle projects involving curtain walls, unitized and stick systems, windows, doors, and cladding.
• Work with thermal break systems, glazing details, and façade accessories.
• Have exposure to major aluminum system brands such as Schüco and Technal, among others.
• Prepare cutting lists for fabrication activities.

Technical skills

• AutoCAD drafting
• Revit familiarity
• Façade design software knowledge, such as LogiKal or similar tools
• Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and shop drawings
• Understanding of fabrication and installation workflows
• Strong attention to detail
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
