Video Editor

The role

This position is for a self-sufficient video editor who can take a raw podcast recording all the way to a finished, publish-ready episode with very little oversight. You’ll be responsible for the full edit flow, including structure, timing, audio treatment, and colour work, while making sound editorial choices without needing step-by-step instructions.

In addition to flagship podcast episodes, the work also includes short-form social content, street interviews, and client video projects for OpenHaus and WriteHaus Asia.

What to expect

You will be provided with raw footage and editorial guidance, then expected to transform that material into a polished final cut independently. Reviews happen after the full edit is completed, so the ability to work with confidence and judgment is just as important as technical capability.

The role combines longer episode edits with quicker turnaround short-form pieces, and may also involve occasional on-set support as a second camera for recordings and events. Feedback will be direct and specific, and you are expected to carry it forward consistently in future work.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of complete podcast episode edits, from raw footage through to the final version ready for release.
• Create reels, shorts, and other social-media-first edits for OpenHaus and WriteHaus Asia.
• Handle sound design, colour correction/grading, and pacing decisions without needing detailed instructions.
• Design and apply simple motion graphics, titles, lower thirds, and transitions that match the brand style.
• Assist with filming as a second camera during events and recording sessions when needed.
• Keep project files organised with clear naming, version control, and consistent folder structure.

Qualifications

Applicants should have at least a diploma from a recognised institution; degree holders from recognised institutions are also encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of practical editing experience and a portfolio that shows the ability to manage a project independently from start to finish.

Strong skills in Adobe Premiere Pro are essential. Familiarity with motion graphics tools such as After Effects is a plus. You should also understand pacing, audio enhancement, and colour grading well enough to spot and fix weaknesses in an edit.

Since all editing is done on macOS, comfort working on Apple laptops is required. A demo reel or portfolio must be submitted, and it should preferably include at least one long-form edit completed independently from beginning to end.
