Role overview
Akima Logistics Services is seeking a Supply Technician to support its Germany operations. This position focuses on technical supply management for depot, local, and other supply functions. The work is typically centered on stable or standardized technical supply activities, with tasks that are limited in scope or complexity and often involve individual supply cases. The role includes receiving deliveries, verifying them against orders, and working under general supervision while escalating more complex matters to senior staff.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate material management activities.
- Receive, ship, inspect, store, issue, and deliver materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Track materials to help maintain required inventory levels.
- Compile lists needed to prepare purchase orders for tools, equipment, and other required materials.
- Set inventory thresholds and reorder points.
- Decide shipping methods, routes, and applicable rates.
- Work independently, complete assigned tasks on time, and maintain quality standards.
- Handle routine issues directly and escalate more complex concerns when needed.
- Organize items neatly and accessibly in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or similar spaces.
- Pack and unpack stock for shelving or storage.
- Dispose of damaged or defective items, or return them to vendors for repair.
- Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in line with safety rules.
- Count incoming stock and record information manually or with a computer system.
- Inspect inventory for wear or defects and report damage to supervisors.
- Label stock using tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or similar equipment.
- Verify inventory records against physical counts and correct discrepancies when needed.
- Support or guide other employees on procedures.
- Maintain records related to stock usage, damage, and equipment calibration.
- Choose proper storage methods, labeling, and stock placement based on usage rate, environmental conditions, and facility limits.
- Recommend disposal of excess, obsolete, or defective inventory.
- Issue materials, products, parts, and supplies to customers or coworkers based on requisitions.
- Recommend new stock purchases or prepare documents to support such purchases.
- Advise users on whether requested parts, supplies, or materials are suitable.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports covering inventory, shortages, shipments, expenses, and issued goods.
- Prepare items for use by adjusting, repairing, or assembling them when required.
- Compile, review, and maintain data from documents to assess supply needs.
- Ship and receive parts and equipment, including proper marking and HAZMAT handling for aviation parts and maintenance support.
- Support shipping and receiving paperwork, quality receiving inspections, and forwarding documents to the customer point of contact.
- Ensure all tools are available to support maintenance work.
- Perform additional duties assigned by leadership or management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- At least 2 years of experience in aviation warehouse or tool room support, or similar work.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- Basic familiarity with specialized tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, and micrometers.
- Working knowledge of inventory and property management systems.
- Ability to prioritize work to meet project schedules.
- Must be able to walk and stand on flat or inclined surfaces for long periods during the day.
- Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
- Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp, handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend at the elbow and knee, and reach above and below the shoulders.
- Must be able to lift, push, or pull at least 50 lbs.
- Preferred: 4 years of aviation tool room or warehouse supply experience.
- Preferred: Active Airframe & Powerplant license.
