Role overview
This position supports hotel safety and security operations at a Marriott property in Kampala, Uganda. The role is focused on protecting guests, employees, and company assets while maintaining a calm, professional presence across the property.

Key duties
The supervisor will patrol all hotel areas, assist guests with room access, observe CCTV and alarm systems, and control entry to secure spaces. The role also includes handling emergency drills, daily safety checks, investigations, interviews, and key control audits.
In the event of incidents, the incumbent will respond to accidents, contact emergency medical services when needed, and provide first aid or CPR if required. The job also involves collecting information, preparing reports, keeping documents confidential, and sharing information only with authorized individuals.
The position requires the ability to de-escalate disturbances, resolve security risks, manage interruptions and complaints, escort unwanted persons off property, and help enforce alcohol-control laws within the hotel. It also includes using coded responses to request assistance and completing required employee paperwork.
The supervisor will support management with staff training, motivation, and coaching, and will act as an example and first contact for the fair treatment and open-door process.
Standards and physical expectations
The role requires strict compliance with all company security policies and procedures, prompt reporting of maintenance issues, hazards, accidents, or injuries, and completion of required security training and certifications. The employee must maintain a neat, professional appearance and uniform, protect company-owned information and assets, and treat coworkers with dignity and respect.
The job involves standing, walking, or sitting for long periods, moving quickly when situations demand it, reading and verifying information in multiple formats, visually inspecting equipment and tools, and entering information into computers or POS systems. It may also require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or positioning items under 50 pounds without assistance, with help needed for items over 75 pounds. Additional physical tasks include reaching overhead and below the knees, bending, twisting, crawling, working in narrow or elevated spaces, and navigating slopes, uneven or slippery surfaces, stairs, and service ramps.
The supervisor must greet guests according to company standards, speak clearly and professionally, answer telephones using proper etiquette, listen carefully to coworkers’ concerns, remain alert for unauthorized individuals on the property, and complete other reasonable duties assigned by supervisors.
