Role overview
This position is responsible for the daily handling of aircraft parts and materials so the maintenance facility receives and sends items in a compliant, timely, and cost-efficient way.
Job category: SCM (Procurement, Logistics, Stores). Career level: Technicians / Crew. Requisition ID: 6131. Location noted for the role: Aeroglen, QLD, AU, 4870. Work arrangement: Onsite.
Key duties
- Carry out the store activities assigned to you and support day-to-day stores operations.
- Process parts and materials in line with the relevant regulatory requirements and company procedures.
- Send items out as needed to meet freight collection deadlines.
- Accept incoming deliveries and complete receiving tasks promptly.
- Route received items either into stock or to meet material request needs without delay.
- Handle the ordering, storage, and distribution of parts and materials according to company policies and procedures.
- Store, monitor, and control stock held in the hangar store and free-issue supply.
- Manage the return of core exchange units to suppliers within agreed timeframes to avoid penalty fees.
- Receive, store, issue, and oversee customer-owned materials.
- Track subcontract repair orders and coordinate their control to reduce turnaround time.
- Keep accurate records of all parts and materials stored or distributed through the Cairns Base facility.
- Support WH&S, environment, and aviation safety management programs and help promote them across the workplace.
- Keep the stores area clean, organised, and professional.
- Assist hangar operations and customer needs as required.
- Handle quarantine items according to company procedures.
- Work with the Purchasing Officer to monitor stock levels and help maintain required inventory levels.
Required experience and capabilities
- Background in aviation logistics or a similar warehousing environment.
- Strong communication skills, including good written, verbal, and computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and deliver results.
- Capacity to follow detailed instructions and operate without direct supervision.
- Initiative to resolve supply issues when they arise.
- Understanding of aviation regulatory requirements for controlling aircraft parts and materials, or the ability to learn quickly through relevant industry experience.
- Knowledge of packaging and shipping requirements for dangerous goods.
- Forklift licence preferred.
- Customer-focused and results-driven approach.
- Self-motivated and proactive mindset.
- Strong analytical ability.
Work environment
The role involves working in both a heavy maintenance setting and in customer-facing areas. The environment may include moderate noise with periods of higher sound levels when aircraft arrive or depart, frequent vibration, occasional fuel fumes, and exposure to all weather conditions. The hangar can also become very hot or very cold depending on the season.
