This is a senior leadership position in a rapidly expanding engineering organization with teams spread across regions. The person in this role will create and grow the Technical Program Management function from scratch, establishing how major cross-functional work is planned, coordinated, and delivered across Engineering, Product, and Design. The role combines hands-on operating leadership with strategic partnership: you will put in place the systems, standards, and operating rhythms that help teams execute consistently at scale. You will also recruit, guide, and develop a small team of TPMs, raising the standard for delivery excellence. Success in this position depends on strong technical understanding, sound judgment, the ability to bring order to ambiguity, and the confidence to lead in a distributed environment. It is best suited to an experienced leader who has previously built TPM capabilities and wants to shape how a modern software company runs its most important programs.

Accountabilities

• Create, grow, and formalize the Technical Program Management function, including its operating model, engagement approach, standards, and long-term organizational design.
• Lead and coach a developing group of senior TPMs, clarify expectations, uphold quality, and keep the function focused on execution leadership rather than administrative tracking.
• Build the end-to-end cross-functional delivery framework connecting Engineering, Product, Design, Customer Success, Support, GTM, and PMM, with clearly defined ownership, dependencies, and escalation routes.
• Set the company-wide standard for program and project management inside tools such as Linear, covering structure, tagging, milestone rules, and visibility across programs.
• Drive dependency planning and launch readiness for large, multi-team efforts that span several engineering groups and downstream business teams.
• Put in place reporting and visibility mechanisms that let leadership assess execution health without creating unnecessary overhead for delivery teams.
• Work closely with Engineering Managers and other functional leaders to strengthen accountability and ensure TPMs support delivery systems rather than replacing direct team ownership.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in Technical Program Management or a comparable delivery leadership role within fast-growing, distributed software companies.
• Demonstrated success in building, scaling, or redesigning a TPM function, including leadership of senior TPMs and definition of organizational standards.
• Strong technical understanding with the ability to grasp architecture, weigh engineering trade-offs, and engage credibly with senior technical stakeholders.
• Proven ability to design and run cross-functional execution systems connecting engineering with customer-facing or go-to-market teams.
• Extensive experience with project management platforms such as Linear or Jira, including the creation or enforcement of standards across multiple teams.
• A clear perspective on the difference between TPM and PMO responsibilities, with the ability to avoid purely administrative, process-heavy operating models.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills, especially in asynchronous and globally distributed settings.
• Strong judgment, independence, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders without direct authority.
