Senior Bridge Engineer

Role overview

This position offers the chance to join a civil structures team focused on bridge and transport infrastructure work across Aotearoa. The role suits a technically capable engineer who can contribute to the design, assessment, and strengthening of bridge structures while delivering practical outcomes on moderately complex assignments.

You will take responsibility for clearly defined technical workstreams and apply strong engineering judgement to support projects from early concept work through detailed design, construction assistance, and asset management. The role also involves considering wider delivery factors such as schedule, budget, and the commercial implications of technical choices.

In addition to technical delivery, you will interact with clients and stakeholders, help maintain trusted working relationships, and communicate advice in a clear, solutions-oriented way. You will be part of a national structures team backed by specialist expertise, a collaborative culture, and a strong focus on learning and career growth.

About you

The ideal candidate is a motivated bridge engineer with a solid consulting or professional services background and roughly five or more years of relevant experience. You should be comfortable working across the full bridge lifecycle, from concept development through detailed design, assessment, and delivery.

Practical experience in bridge design and assessment is important, including calculations, modelling, documentation, and design review. You should be able to own technical packages while working within broader project and commercial constraints, and you should enjoy collaborating in multidisciplinary teams.

You will either hold Chartered Professional Engineer status or be actively progressing toward it, with support available through mentoring, structured development, and access to specialist guidance.
