Senior Backend Engineer - Python/Django

Role Summary

In this position, you will serve as a backend specialist powering Holafly’s global connectivity platform. Your work will focus on building scalable, reliable services and owning the development of high-performance APIs that support users across the globe.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and tune essential microservices using Python, Django, and Django REST Framework.
• Strengthen code quality by introducing reliable unit tests with Pytest and other automated checks.
• Design APIs from the ground up so they can sustain heavy traffic and high concurrency during peak travel periods.
• Reduce technical debt by finding and fixing performance issues, including N+1 queries and inefficient asynchronous processing.
• Work closely with Product and QA colleagues across different locations to turn complex business needs into maintainable technical solutions.
• Promote engineering best practices throughout the development lifecycle, including design patterns, documentation, and thorough code reviews.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of backend engineering experience, with strong command of Django and Django REST Framework.
• Deep experience in unit testing and building development processes that prioritize quality from the start.
• Hands-on background in microservices design and integration with complex third-party systems.
• Solid understanding of asynchronous programming and handling demanding database workloads.

Good to Have

• Ability to speak Spanish fluently or at a professional working level.
• Experience using Silk or similar tools for performance profiling.
