Role overview

This position sits within Advisory, under the FS X-Sector industry focus, with an Operations specialism at Senior Associate level. The role is part of Application and Emerging Technology services, supporting clients in identifying the technologies that can address business challenges, improve how technology investments are used, and enable stronger business outcomes and innovation.

What you will do

• Support multiple client engagements proactively while working under Managers and senior leadership.
• Coach, guide, and help direct team members.
• Build productive working relationships with client stakeholders.
• Strengthen your own technical capability as well as that of the wider team.
• Stay informed about business, market, and economic developments at both local and national levels.
• Take part in business development efforts by identifying and researching opportunities with existing and prospective clients.

Role focus: IT strategy / consulting

The position is aimed at an IT strategy and consulting professional with experience in payments architecture, ideally at Senior Consultant level. The work involves leading transformation initiatives, shaping architectural direction, and contributing to delivery across complex change programmes.

Core responsibilities

• Drive large transformation assignments from early-stage strategy and solution design through implementation and delivery.
• Work with cross-functional architecture teams to define or improve the architectural direction for important business programmes.
• Balance speed to market, solution quality, and financial/business impact when making decisions and trade-offs.
• Provide technical leadership across tools, technologies, testing approaches, and architecture models.
• Present solutions and designs clearly to different audiences, including CXOs in banking and financial services.
• Partner with network firms to create and lead proposals and RFP responses.

Required background and expertise

• 5 to 7 years of experience in payments and technology architecture.
• Experience with governance and oversight processes that keep change aligned to strategic objectives.
• Strong problem-solving ability and proven exposure to complex transformation work.
• Working knowledge of P2P, B2B, B2C, and G2P payment applications and channels.
• Familiarity with payment message standards such as ISO 20022 and ISO 8583.
• Understanding of middleware, integration layers, databases, servers, and SAN storage.
• Good knowledge of cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
• Working awareness of data security and payments security, including PCI DSS and PA DSS compliance.
• Leadership capability with the ability to drive design and implementation activity.
• At least 1 to 2 years of international experience in managing or handling payment transformation projects.
• Exposure to architectural methods and standards such as TOGAF, Zachman, and Rational Unified Process.

Preferred profile

The preferred overall experience is 5 to 10 years, mainly in IT consulting. Candidates with experience at Big 4 firms, TCS, DXC, Accenture, or IBM are especially relevant. Suitable certifications include TOGAF, PMP, CSM, ITIL at master or intermediate level, and AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
