Position Overview
This full-time, on-site role is for a Security Superintendent based at Bulyanhulu Mine in Tanzania. Reporting to the Security Manager, the successful candidate will oversee day-to-day security activities, support the supervision of contractor security staff, coordinate with the Tanzania Police Force and local guards, and help ensure all security operations follow the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights as well as Barrick/BGML standards and procedures. The position covers both Process Plant security and broader site security operations. One vacancy is available.

Key Performance Areas
- Coordinate resources and logistics so security services are delivered promptly, efficiently, and professionally.
- Monitor the department performance matrix closely and keep daily operations aligned with strong performance trends.
- Maintain a proactive approach to prevention and security awareness.
- Escalate deficiencies quickly to reduce the risk of loss or damage to company assets.
- Prepare accurate and timely oral, written, incident, statement, and safety reports.
- Take initiative and ensure parade checks and deployments are completed on time, whether working independently or in a team.
- Carry out assessments of team members in line with company policies and procedures.
- Investigate and escalate any breaches of search policy to the Security Manager.
- Keep the search procedure file available at access and egress points for staff reference.
- Train team members on access control and guard post procedures.
- Report access-system failures immediately to the systems technicians for repair.
- Inspect card readers daily at gates, turnstiles, and all access/egress points.
- Complete and submit weekly fence-line inspections on time.
- Keep operations procedures current, aligned with workplace changes, and reviewed quarterly.
- Ensure all employees under your supervision are trained to the required standard on security policies and procedures.
- Hold staff accountable through practical, results-oriented leadership and decision-making.
- Respond to situations objectively and flexibly, adapting to department changes as needed.
- Work effectively under pressure.
- Plan ahead so resources are available for both daily tasks and future requirements.
Environmental Management Responsibilities
- Be accountable for the effectiveness of the environmental management system.
- Ensure environmental policy and objectives are set and aligned with the organization’s direction and context.
- Make sure the resources needed for the environmental management system are available.
- Communicate the importance of effective environmental management and compliance with system requirements.
- Help ensure the environmental management system delivers its intended results.
- Guide and support others so they contribute to system effectiveness.
- Promote ongoing improvement.
- Support other management roles in demonstrating leadership within their areas of responsibility.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should have Form Six or a diploma in a relevant field. The role calls for experience in crime investigation and protection best practices, strong knowledge of functional systems used by the organization, and the ability to influence stakeholders while maintaining productive working relationships. You should be able to produce detailed reports, create and enforce written procedures, and demonstrate strong capability in security operations and investigations.
Additional strengths include competence in SAP, community relations and engagement, training delivery and assessments, and the ability to work as a qualified security trainer. A background in leadership, tactical planning, interpersonal effectiveness, problem solving, Tanzanian customs and legal processes, English communication, hazard identification, risk assessment, and Mine Health & Safety Act awareness is also required. Five years of experience in a similar role is needed, and experience in complex mining operations will be an advantage.
