Role summary

This full-time, on-site Sand Blaster position is based in Jubail, Eastern, Saudi Arabia. The role centers on preparing metal and other surfaces for coating by cleaning, degreasing, masking, and blasting them to remove rust, scale, old finishes, and other contaminants. Work must be carried out in line with technical requirements, safety expectations, and job instructions.

Key duties

• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, degreasing, and masking areas before blasting begins.
• Operate sandblasting equipment to strip rust, scale, old coatings, and contaminants from surfaces.
• Choose the right abrasive material and adjust machine settings to suit the job.
• Maintain the required surface profile in accordance with specifications and work orders.
• Check completed surfaces for quality, note any defects, and ensure standards are met.
• Coordinate with painting or coating teams so the next stage of work can proceed smoothly.
• Carry out regular equipment inspections and basic upkeep checks.
• Follow safety and environmental rules at all times and use personal protective equipment correctly.
• Keep the work area tidy, organized, and safe.

Candidate requirements

• Prior experience as a sand blaster or in a similar surface-preparation role within industrial, construction, or oil and gas settings.
• Working knowledge of blasting methods, abrasives, nozzles, pressure settings, and surface-preparation standards such as SA 2.5 or an equivalent level.
• Ability to read and follow instructions, basic drawings, and project specifications related to surface preparation and coating systems.
• Solid understanding of safe work practices, including PPE use, confined-space precautions, and proper handling of blasting media.
• Physical fitness for manual work, including standing for long periods, working in different positions, and lifting moderate weights.
• Good attention to detail, strong visual inspection ability, and a commitment to quality workmanship.
• Basic English communication skills and the ability to coordinate well with supervisors and coworkers.
• Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and in outdoor or harsh industrial conditions when required.
• Previous experience in Jubail or a similar industrial hub is an added advantage, as is familiarity with client- or site-specific standards.
• Vocational training, blasting and painting certifications, or safety certifications such as OSHA or equivalent are beneficial.
