Role overview
ODS Engineering is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join its team in Dundrum, County Tipperary. The role supports project delivery after the tender stage, with a focus on commercial management, cost tracking, budgets, payment claims, valuations, variations, final accounts, and payment follow-up. It also includes assisting the Estimating Manager with material take-offs and gathering quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and submit project payment claims, valuations, and final accounts.
- Support project managers and the commercial team with cost control and variation management.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, main contractors, engineers, architects, and other quantity surveyors.
- Request quotations and build productive relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Monitor project costs by creating budgets and keeping them accurate and up to date throughout the project lifecycle.
- Track financial spend and check that it stays within approved budget limits.
- Work with design teams and project managers to ensure all extras and variations are priced and communicated to the client.
- Partner closely with the Commercial Manager, Estimating Manager, and Sector Project Managers.
- Support the Estimating Manager with material take-offs and related estimating tasks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience, ideally in construction or engineering.
- Experience with structural steel, cladding, or modular buildings is an advantage.
- Ability to review construction drawings, interpret them accurately, and extract quantities from engineers’ and architects’ plans.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Solid understanding of cost control and cost planning.
- Good organisational skills, time management, and the ability to handle several projects while meeting tight deadlines.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-moving growth environment.
- Proficiency with MS Office.
