ملازمت کی تفصیل
About the organisation
Public Health Scotland began operating on 1 April 2020 as Scotland’s national health board. It employs about 1,200 people and manages an annual budget of around £101 million. Its mission is to help create a Scotland where everyone can thrive, where life expectancy rises, and where the gap in life expectancy between the most and least affluent areas continues to narrow.
The organisation works with partners across local and national systems to provide leadership that improves and protects the health and wellbeing of people in Scotland.
The role
The Population Health and Wellbeing Directorate is looking to appoint one full-time Project Manager on a permanent basis. This position sits within the Population Health Harms portfolio in the Smoking, Vaping and Gambling Harm team, and is focused entirely on the gambling harm work programme funded through the gambling levy.
What you will do
You will help shape and deliver a work programme aimed at preventing and reducing gambling harm across multiple directorates within Public Health Scotland, working with a range of specialist teams.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience in project and/or programme management. Experience in the public sector would be an advantage. You should also have strong communication, negotiation and influencing abilities, including a proven track record of working with senior stakeholders and across different sectors. The role requires someone who can work independently and confidently with minimal supervision.
Working pattern and location
This post can be based at either Gyle Square in Edinburgh or Bothwell Street in Glasgow. The organisation operates a hybrid working model, so you will be expected to spend time in the office and also have the option to work from home.
The standard working pattern is Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week. Public Health Scotland is flexible and open to discussing alternative working arrangements. In periods of public health emergency or other urgent business need, you may temporarily be asked to work your normal contracted hours across seven days, including weekends, to support service needs.
It is a condition of employment that you live and remain resident in the UK for this role.
Benefits
The benefits package includes a pension scheme, a broad set of work-life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres, and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits.
Inclusion and recruitment support
Public Health Scotland is committed to being a diverse, inclusive and welcoming employer. It offers flexible working options, supports staff with caring responsibilities as a Carer Positive employer, and encourages a healthy balance between work and personal life.
The organisation provides learning and development opportunities and welcomes colleagues to join its equality networks. As an equal opportunities and Disability Confident employer, it aims to guarantee an interview to disabled applicants who meet the minimum shortlisting criteria. It also works toward becoming a trauma-informed organisation and recognises that trauma can affect people differently, including during recruitment.
If you require reasonable adjustments or support, you should contact the Recruitment Team. For an informal discussion about the role, you can contact Ann Conacher, Organisational Lead.
Application and correspondence
The closing date for completed applications is Friday 10 July 2026. Most communication is sent by email, so applicants should check their inbox regularly, including junk folders.
Important note on AI use
If you use artificial intelligence or other tools to help prepare your application, you must ensure the final submission is personalised, especially the supporting information. Any application you submit must be your own work and must reflect your own knowledge, skills and experience, rather than being produced solely by AI or similar tools.
Equal opportunities note
The organisation is an equal opportunities employer and a committed participant in the Disability Confident scheme. It guarantees interviews for disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria, although if application volumes are exceptionally high, a fair and proportionate shortlisting process will be used in line with Disability Confident guidance.
