Overview
An experienced and reliable Plumber is required to support a busy responsive repairs contract in Brighton. This is a permanent, full-time, site-based position focused on plumbing repairs and maintenance within occupied social housing homes.
The role involves a broad mix of practical repair work, from dealing with leaks and fittings to investigating more involved problems with heating or drainage. You will work directly with residents, so a courteous manner and strong customer service are important. The position offers regular work and the chance to contribute to better housing conditions in the local community.

Location: Brighton, England, United Kingdom
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Hours: 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Pay: Up to £38,000 per year
Additional support and benefits include a company van, fuel card, and participation in an out-of-hours rota.
Responsibilities
- Respond to plumbing repair requests in occupied properties and complete work to a high standard.
- Find and fix leaks, blockages, and drainage problems.
- Replace sanitary fittings such as taps, toilets, cisterns, basins, and similar items.
- Repair or renew pipework, valves, and related plumbing components.
- Assess and resolve faults with hot water systems and radiators.
- Carry out work in line with current plumbing rules, health and safety requirements, and safe working practices.
- Keep accurate records of completed work, materials used, and job notes through handheld devices or paper job sheets.
- Remove, repair, or refit bath panels when needed to reach pipework or complete leak investigations, ensuring a neat professional finish.
- Look after tools, equipment, and the assigned company vehicle.
- Work considerately in residents’ homes and leave the area clean and safe.
- Spot and report any extra repair needs, safeguarding issues, or property concerns.
- Take part in the emergency out-of-hours rota when required.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures.
- Deliver a consistently high level of customer care.
Requirements
- Proven background in domestic plumbing repairs and maintenance.
- Experience with carpentry repairs and maintenance.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work on your own and organise your workload effectively.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving ability.
- Good customer service skills and experience working in occupied homes.
- Solid understanding of health and safety rules and safe working methods.
- Comfortable using handheld devices or job management systems to log work.
- Willing to join the out-of-hours emergency rota.
- Must be eligible to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not offered.
- To drive a company vehicle, you must be over 21, have held a driving licence for at least 3 months, and have fewer than 9 points.
