Role overview

Orient Castle Contracting Company is looking for a seasoned Planning Engineer to support construction, fit-out, and infrastructure work. The position centers on building and maintaining project schedules, tracking progress against baseline plans, spotting delays and risks early, and putting forward recovery actions so projects are delivered on time and in line with contractual commitments and business goals.

Key responsibilities

Create, revise, and manage detailed project timelines using Primavera P6 and other planning software.
Measure progress continuously and compare actual output with the approved baseline programme.
Work closely with project managers, site engineers, procurement teams, and subcontractors to keep activities moving as planned.
Partner with the Cost Control team to track spending, prepare cash flow projections, and keep work aligned with the approved budget.
Prepare weekly and monthly progress updates, look-ahead plans, and management dashboards.
Monitor critical tasks and flag issues that could affect milestones or final handover dates.
Review manpower and resource usage, productivity trends, and overall project performance indicators.
Develop recovery programmes and mitigation measures when delays occur to protect contractual obligations.
Support project managers in sequencing construction tasks and improving resource deployment.
Carry out critical path studies and share recommendations to improve delivery performance.
Assist with Extension of Time claims, delay assessments, and supporting records when needed.
Keep planning files, records, and project documentation accurate and up to date.
Attend project meetings and present planning progress, issues, and recommendations to management.
Ensure all planning work follows company procedures, project specifications, and contract requirements.

Advanced use of Primavera P6
Working knowledge of Microsoft Project
Project scheduling and planning methods
Project controls and progress tracking
Resource planning and productivity analysis
Delay analysis and risk assessment
Critical Path Method (CPM)
Reading drawings, BOQs, specifications, and technical documents
Strong coordination and communication skills
Analytical thinking and problem-solving
Ability to handle pressure and multiple projects at once
Fluency in Arabic and English, both written and spoken

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a similar engineering field.
5 to 8 years of experience in project planning and scheduling in construction firms.
Background in infrastructure, fit-out, and civil/architectural construction projects with solid execution and delivery exposure.
Strong command of Primavera P6 and project control practices.
Hands-on experience with delay analysis, Extension of Time claims, recovery schedules, and contractual correspondence.
Ability to manage planning responsibilities across several projects at the same time.
Good understanding of Saudi construction methods, project execution needs, and contract administration.
