Role Overview
This position is centered on delivering professional pest management services for residential customers. The technician will inspect homes, identify the type and source of infestations, apply suitable treatment methods, and recommend preventive steps to reduce the chance of recurring pest problems, all while working safely and maintaining good communication with customers.
Key Duties
- Inspect customer properties carefully to spot pest activity, damage, and potential entry points.
- Use approved pest control tools and materials such as chemicals, baits, and traps in line with safety standards.
- Guide customers on prevention practices and explain how to keep their homes pest-free.
- Develop strong customer relationships, arrange and confirm appointments, support sales with existing customers, and help grow business with new customers.
- Keep pest control equipment maintained, supplied, and functioning properly.
- Follow all local, state, and federal rules related to pest control products and safety.
- Operate a company-provided service vehicle safely; routine maintenance is handled by the company.
Working Conditions
- Work may involve tight areas such as basements, attics, crawl spaces, narrow aisles, and passageways.
- Exposure may include animals, insects, termites, mechanical parts, vehicles, electrical current, heights, scaffolding, fumes, dust, and chemicals; training is provided for safe handling.
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in local weather conditions, with company-issued weather gear.
- The job requires frequent movement, including sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and moving up and down stairs, ladders, scaffolding, ramps, and poles.
- Personal protective equipment, including an OSHA-compliant respirator, must be worn.
Requirements
- Must be clean-shaven for safety reasons so a respirator can seal properly.
- High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent mix of education, training, and related experience.
- Valid driver’s license from the state of residence.
- Any licenses or certifications required by federal, state, or local authorities; the company covers these where applicable.
- Availability to work Monday through Friday, with weekends as needed.
- Willingness to learn and build knowledge across all areas of pest control.
- Strong reading, writing, and speaking communication skills.
- Basic math ability for tasks such as following product-mixing instructions on labels.
- Customer-facing experience is preferred.
