Role Purpose
The Package Manager will report to the Project Director or Technical Manager and contribute within the Project Management / Engineering team during project execution and package delivery. The role is responsible for steering package engineering work, aligning multiple disciplines, and ensuring outputs are delivered to the required budget, schedule, and quality levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct package engineering work and make sure it stays aligned with project scope, deadlines, and quality expectations.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams by assigning responsibilities, clarifying team roles, and supporting people development.
- Track engineering progress, support planning activities, and prepare status updates against project milestones.
- Work with procurement teams, vendors, and subcontractors, including technical bid reviews and vendor coordination.
- Maintain compliance with HSE expectations, QA/QC procedures, and applicable international engineering rules and standards.
- Assist with tendering and proposal work, including estimating effort and cost, preparing technical documentation, and contributing to offers.
- Handle discipline interfaces and ensure accurate technical information is shared across all stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement by capturing knowledge and strengthening engineering methods and working practices.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or a closely related engineering field.
- Between 8 and 12 years of experience in engineering positions, including proven work as a Package Engineer or Package Manager in oil and gas, energy, or EPC projects.
- Strong understanding of package engineering design, workflows, and the full project lifecycle from concept through commissioning.
- Hands-on experience with engineering manhour estimation, budgeting, and cost control.
- Proven capability in vendor management, technical bid assessment, and procurement-related activities.
- Working knowledge of international codes, engineering standards, and HSE requirements.
- Ability to manage subcontractors and coordinate across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Fluent English is mandatory; Italian, French, or Arabic would be an added advantage.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with engineering software and document management systems.
- Experience with ERP platforms such as SAP is beneficial.
Additional Information
This is a permanent, project-based position located in Doha, Qatar. The role includes a 45-hour workweek arranged as 9 hours per day, 5 days per week. For offshore operations, availability may be required around the clock. The position may involve international travel and work across EMEA as well as offshore and onshore sites, depending on project needs.
