Nursery Assistant

Position Summary

The Nursery Assistant helps the full-time nursery team care for children in the on-campus faculty nursery. This role is focused on providing attentive support for the school’s youngest children, with responsibility for their physical well-being, emotional comfort, and early learning stimulation. The position works under the guidance of the Nursery Coordinator.

Primary Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day care and supervision of children.
• Create and carry out activities suited to the children’s age so they can grow physically, mentally, and emotionally.
• Keep the nursery environment tidy, secure, and aligned with health and safety standards.
• Watch children’s behavior and development, and share any concerns with supervisors or parents when needed.
• Work closely with parents and fellow staff to maintain a positive, supportive atmosphere.
• Take part in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to strengthen childcare skills.
• Remain adaptable and ready to take on changing duties and assignments.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED is required. An associate degree or bachelor’s degree, along with prior experience in a daycare or nursery setting, is preferred. Candidates should understand early childhood development and be able to plan age-appropriate activities. Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities are important, as is the capacity to handle multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work both independently and as part of a team. Applicants must be willing to follow state health and safety rules, complete background checks, and work flexible schedules that may include mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Reporting Structure

This role reports directly to the Nursery Coordinator.

Schedule

• On-campus work, Monday through Friday.
• Part-time, 10-month employee.
