Role overview
The Ministry of Education New Zealand is seeking a permanent Logistics Coordinator in Wellington to help deliver large-scale education studies. This position focuses on coordinating day-to-day logistics and administrative tasks for project teams, with a strong emphasis on organisation, communication, and service to schools.
What the role involves
You will work closely with schools, suppliers, and internal teams to keep project activity running smoothly. The role includes planning and managing testing schedules, arranging the shipment of devices and hard packs to schools, monitoring expenses, and processing payment requests.
Success in this position will suit someone who is highly organised, comfortable working in a fast-moving team, and confident supporting a customer-focused experience for schools involved in research activities.
What we're looking for
The ideal candidate brings experience helping plan and deliver large-scale projects, along with strong written and verbal communication skills. You should be efficient, methodical, and able to turn tasks around to a high standard. A proactive mindset, curiosity, and the ability to learn new systems quickly will also be important.
Experience with large education studies such as PISA, PIRLS, TIMSS, or TALIS would be an advantage. You must also be willing to work in line with the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
Team context
This role sits within the Educational Measurement and Assessment team, part of the Ministry’s Data and Insights group. The wider group handles information management across the full lifecycle, including data collection, stewardship, analysis, modelling, and reporting, to support policy and practice across the education sector.
Compensation
The salary for this permanent position is NZD 65,801 to NZD 79,195 per year, plus KiwiSaver. The final offer will depend on the successful candidate’s skills and experience.
Application information
To apply, candidates should submit a cover letter and resume. The cover letter should include information about the applicant’s background, values, motivations, strengths, transferable skills, and the perspectives they would bring to the role.
Applications close at midnight on Wednesday, 15 July 2026. If you need support or adjustments during the recruitment process, the organisation welcomes requests for assistance.
