Role Overview

The Lead Editor is responsible for keeping publication quality and output on track across the joint doctrine program. Key Duties

  • Lead and coordinate editorial and publishing activities across the joint doctrine program.
  • Oversee production timelines using tracking systems and ensure published material meets quality expectations.
  • Manage content throughout the full publication workflow.
  • Use the American Forces Public Information Management System (AFPIMS) as the content management platform.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates should hold a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Management Science, or a related discipline. Alternatively, applicants without a degree may qualify with 10 years of proven success in the required areas.

Applicants must demonstrate strength in at least four of the following areas: joint or Service doctrine development and publishing processes; production schedule management with tracking tools and quality enforcement; content management; certification in the DoD Public Web AFPIMS content management system; communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills; and directing editorial and publishing operations.

A Secret security clearance is required according to the staffing plan.

Preferred Qualifications

Current AFPIMS certification is preferred. Experience leading an editorial or publishing team in a Department of Defense environment is also highly desirable.
