Junior Animator – Remote Contract

Role overview

This opportunity is suited to a 2D animator or visual worldbuilder who enjoys shaping immersive, emotionally rich environments. The project involves creating five original animated background scenes for Mono, a character with a CRT television head and cable-like hair, placed in a gritty sci-fi city inspired by forgotten technology. The emphasis is on crafting distinctive, atmospheric settings that feel true to Mono’s universe, with understated motion and strong visual storytelling helping define the mood and identity of the world.

What you’ll create

• Five separate background scenes, each showing a different facet of Mono’s sci-fi urban setting.
• Subtle motion elements such as blinking lights, drifting dust, or light camera movement to deepen the atmosphere.
• Backgrounds that feel connected to Mono’s character and story rather than looking generic or interchangeable.
• Final files delivered in MP4, MOV, GIF, or formats compatible with Moho.
• Fully original artwork and animation; AI-generated material is not acceptable.

Required experience and fit

• Background in 2D animation and environmental/world design.
• Comfort working with Moho or a comparable animation tool.
• Ability to communicate mood and narrative through subtle animation choices.
• A portfolio that shows atmospheric, character-led environments.
• Capability to complete polished original work within agreed deadlines.
• Clear communication and strong attention to detail.
• Availability to collaborate remotely on a project basis.
