Role Overview
This is a full-time, on-site position in Bhubaneswar for a Field Inspector. The person in this role will travel to assigned locations to collect reliable ground-level information through surveys, interviews, and observation. The job requires speaking with residents, community leaders, and other local stakeholders to understand public opinion and political concerns. The role also includes checking information for accuracy, flagging discrepancies or risks to project leads, supporting field team coordination, following data collection standards, and keeping detailed daily activity records.
Responsibilities
- Visit assigned field locations and gather accurate ground-level data.
- Conduct surveys, interviews, and observational assessments.
- Engage respectfully with residents, local leaders, and other stakeholders.
- Verify collected information and report inconsistencies, issues, or risks quickly.
- Assist in coordinating field teams when needed.
- Follow all data collection procedures and ethical field practices.
- Maintain clear daily logs of work completed and outcomes observed.
Requirements
- Comfortable carrying out field research with strong attention to detail.
- Good communication and people skills for interacting with varied communities.
- Well-organized with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
- Basic reporting and data entry ability using mobile apps, spreadsheets, or survey tools.
- Capable of working independently, using judgment, and following safety and ethics guidelines.
- Ability to speak local languages and dialects used in and around Bhubaneswar is preferred.
- Previous exposure to fieldwork, political campaigning, social research, or community outreach is an advantage.
- Minimum qualification: high school diploma; a degree in political science, sociology, public policy, or a related subject is a plus.
