Farm General Labourer

Overview

Gwillimdale Farms is hiring a full-time farm general labourer in Bradford, Ontario. The role is performed entirely at the worksite; remote work is not available.

Education and Experience

No formal degree, certificate, or diploma is needed. This is an entry-level opportunity and the employer will provide training.

Work Environment

The job takes place outdoors and may involve dusty conditions, heat, cold or refrigerated areas, and exposure to all types of weather.

Responsibilities

• Use hoeing methods between crop rows.
• Remove brush and field debris from growing areas, pens, and other workspaces.
• Clear stones and wood from fields.
• Sort fruits and vegetables by size, shape, colour, and volume for market grading.
• Package produce for sale or shipment.
• Carry out weeding tasks.
• Keep the work area clean and orderly.
• Harvest crops.
• Run and care for farm machinery and equipment.
• Inspect produce to confirm quality and market readiness.

Crops and Equipment

The work involves carrots, onions, potatoes, and other vegetables. Experience with farm trucks, tractors, planting equipment, tillage equipment, and hand tools is relevant.

Additional Information

For travel and transportation, a valid driver's licence is required, the candidate must have their own vehicle, and public transit is not available.

This is a physically demanding role that includes repetitive work, heavy lifting, manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, long periods of standing, bending, crouching, kneeling, and a mix of sitting, standing, and walking. The role also requires frequent walking.

Weight handling may be required up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
