Engineer - Quality

Role Overview

The Quality Engineer will support site operations by planning, verifying, and maintaining quality systems across construction activities at the Hyderabad project location. The role focuses on ensuring that works, materials, testing, and documentation align with project specifications, method statements, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and applicable IS codes.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and verify quality plans, method statements, and ITPs in line with project specifications and Indian Standard (IS) codes.
• Develop design mix arrangements at the site when required.
• Maintain all quality-related site records, including drawing registers, checklists, and other department documentation.
• Study the specifications applicable to each work item and ensure execution follows the defined requirements.
• Confirm that the correct procedures and instructions are followed during execution of site activities.
• Handle materials management activities related to site quality control.
• Carry out scheduled supervision of work at the project site.
• Manage reporting and document control for the quality function.
• Coordinate with the client, contractor, site team, and consultants to support smooth quality compliance.
• Coordinate drawings with the consultant as needed.
• Inspect incoming materials for material test certificates (MTCs) and arrange qualification tests according to the ITP/method statements.
• Perform process quality checks for activities such as utility diversion works, secant piles, capping beam and flood walls, rock anchoring, RCC waller beams, rock bolting, excavation, drilling, controlled blasting, shotcrete, and similar project works.
• Coordinate with GC/PMRP engineers for activity inspections and obtain necessary clearances.
• Conduct quality toolbox talks and lead weekly site meetings to guide engineers and workmen on achieving better workmanship and construction quality.
• Ensure that only approved materials are used on site and that traceable quality records are properly maintained.
• Identify non-conformities arising from ITP or SOP violations and work with the site team to close them within the required timeframe.
• Check calibration certificates for equipment used at site and ensure only calibrated instruments are in use with valid calibration status.
• Carry out sampling and visual inspection of concrete, shotcrete, and cement grout.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of quality planning, ITPs, method statements, and specification compliance in construction projects.
• Hands-on experience with site quality documentation, material verification, and document control.
• Ability to supervise site activities and coordinate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of construction quality checks for activities such as excavation, piling, anchoring, blasting, shotcrete, and concrete works.
• Familiarity with calibration checks, traceability requirements, and non-conformance resolution.
