Role Overview

This position is for a Database Administrator based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is a day-shift, on-site contract-to-hire role with a requirement of 5 to 8 years of relevant experience. The compensation range is 8 to 11 LPA, and there are 10 openings available.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves end-to-end Oracle database administration work, including software installation, database setup, upgrades, replication, backup and recovery, scripting, and ongoing performance tracking.

You will be expected to strengthen database performance through Oracle tuning, while also setting up and monitoring disaster recovery and Data Guard environments to reduce recovery time at the standby site and limit data loss during outages.

Another important part of the job is troubleshooting database-related issues such as connectivity failures, data integrity concerns, slow performance, blocking, deadlocks, replication problems, profile issues, Data Guard issues, backup and recovery failures, security concerns, and log shipping.

The position also calls for advanced scripting and automation, practical problem-solving, root-cause analysis, and resolution of complex incidents.

You will need to balance multiple priorities across projects and business units, work effectively in a fast-moving Agile environment, and maintain a customer-first mindset. Participation in a 7x24 on-call rotation for production support is also required.

Requirements

The role requires strong hands-on experience in Oracle database administration, especially in Oracle performance tuning. Candidates should be comfortable with disaster recovery, Data Guard, backup and recovery, monitoring, and production support.

Applicants must have the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly, automate tasks through scripting, and work across multiple workstreams with minimal supervision.
