Role overview
This position supports NTU Education 2025 and the years ahead as part of the Career & Attachment Office (CAO) strategy to prepare NTU students for the future of work. The Career Coach also serves as a Career Business Partner for Schools and Colleges, helping undergraduate and postgraduate students build self-awareness, explore career paths, and strengthen professional readiness so they can move toward careers that match their interests and goals.
Responsibilities
- Deliver personalised one-to-one career guidance as well as coaching in small groups.
- Help students identify their career preferences, strengths, values, and interests.
- Use self-assessment and career profiling instruments when needed to deepen students’ understanding of themselves.
- Support students with early-stage career exploration and planning throughout their four years at NTU.
- Share practical resources and advice on career topics such as job search methods, CV writing, interview preparation, industry skills frameworks, and career workshops.
- Run the required ML0004 small-group sessions for resume review and mock interview practice.
- Coach students on approaches for internship searches and graduate job searches.
- Work with students, student organisations, and faculty members on career awareness and preparation activities.
- Shape and tailor school-specific initiatives and programmes that improve employability, including career and industry talks, alumni sessions, and customised workshops.
- Act as a collaborator and main contact for school leadership on career-related issues.
- Take part in school outreach activities such as Career Day.
Requirements
- A recognised degree is required, along with 9 to 10 years of experience.
- At least 5 of those years should be in career coaching, counselling, career services, graduate recruitment, human resources, executive search, or learning and development.
- Previous exposure to change initiatives and the ability to introduce fresh ideas within a team of career coaches are important.
- Relevant certification in career coaching is required.
- Certification or qualifications in self-assessment and career profiling tools are needed.
- You should be an experienced coach with strong skills in guiding and engaging young adults.
- Comfort with both traditional and technology- or AI-enabled career coaching tools is expected.
- Strong understanding of industries, workplace dynamics, and employer expectations is necessary.
- High initiative, self-motivation, and a strong commitment to student career success are essential.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills are required.
- You should be capable of facilitating and presenting career-related workshops.
- Strong listening skills, critical thinking, and sound decision-making are important.
- Attention to detail, good organisation, and solid administrative ability are needed.
- Must work well in a team and bring strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools is required.
