Role overview

Ontario Power Generation is seeking a strategic, analytical, and results-oriented Business Analyst to join the team in Oshawa, Ontario. This contract role runs for up to 36 months and is based on day shift with no travel required.

The position reports to the Senior Manager, IT Services and supports business process, financial, and operational activities across a complex, regulated, asset-intensive environment. The role contributes to procurement support, IT asset lifecycle work, financial reporting, internal controls, audits, benchmarking, and continuous improvement efforts. It also helps improve financial management practices, performance reporting, procedures, systems, controls, and service management processes using tools such as ServiceNow, ITSM, IT asset management platforms, workflow systems, dashboards, and similar solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Advise department supervisors and managers on business process and financial matters within the team’s scope.
• Perform analytical work supporting financial management, performance reporting, procedures, systems, internal controls, financial audits, and benchmarking.
• Build and distribute regular performance reports, including review of actual outcomes, targets, and related metrics.
• Assist with the application and rollout of financial and accounting policies and practices.
• Develop and sustain strong working relationships with internal partners, business stakeholders, and external suppliers.
• Protect the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of financial and performance data used for management and reporting.
• Spot opportunities to streamline and strengthen departmental processes and procedures.
• Support training related to business, finance, and systems, and help managers assess and improve work methods.

Requirements

• Completion of four years of university education.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Background supporting business or IT service processes in a complex, regulated, or asset-intensive setting.
• Exposure to procurement, IT asset lifecycle activities, financial reporting, controls, or continuous improvement work.
• Hands-on experience with ServiceNow, ITSM, IT asset management tools, workflow platforms, dashboards, or comparable systems used for requests, incidents, assets, performance tracking, and process documentation.
• Strong integrity and commitment to corporate values and the OPG Code of Business Conduct.

Salary range: $1,764.34 to $2,663.56 per week.
