Role Overview
Tata Consultancy Services is looking for a Business Analyst for regulatory reporting work in Mumbai. The position sits within a regulated financial domain and calls for deep involvement in business analysis, data handling, testing, and documentation across reporting and banking processes.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead business analysis activities across IT and regulatory reporting programs within investment banking, capital markets, or related finance operations.
- Collect and refine requirements, analyze data sources, support onboarding/sourcing of data, and prepare detailed requirement documents.
- Handle reporting needs for finance or operations functions, including products such as FX, derivatives, bonds, repos, loans, deposits, and trade finance.
- Understand the end-to-end trade lifecycle for the listed financial products and how it affects downstream reporting.
- Work on local regulatory reporting initiatives for APAC markets.
- Maintain working knowledge of post-trade and settlement flows, along with accounting standards and principles used in reporting such as GAAP and IFRS.
- Interpret financial statements and regulatory reports including balance sheet, profit and loss, cash flow, EMIR, MiFID, DFA, CCAR, liquidity coverage ratio, large exposures, and non-performing assets reporting.
- Perform functional testing using Excel-based methods such as VLOOKUPs and pivot tables/charts for regulatory data models and reports.
- Write BRDs and FRDs, create use cases, epics, and user stories, and work in a Scrum-based delivery model.
- Support SDLC activities and operate effectively in an Agile environment.
- Use SQL for data analysis and bring working knowledge of Jira and Confluence into day-to-day delivery.
- Conduct UAT by defining test plans, test cases, and test data, and by validating interface testing across applications.
- Partner with developers to resolve functional issues discovered during UAT.
- Take ownership of assigned work, show accountability, and drive tasks independently when needed.
- Use strong analytical and logical thinking to influence improvements and deliver outcomes as a workstream lead.
Requirements
- Overall IT experience of 5 to 15+ years, with background in regulatory reporting, investment banking, or capital markets.
- Practical experience in a business analyst role covering requirements gathering, data analysis, documentation, and UAT.
- Exposure to local regulatory reporting for finance or operations teams.
- Strong understanding of trade lifecycle, post-trade processes, settlement, and accounting/reporting standards.
- Working knowledge of financial products and reporting concepts used in APAC regulatory environments.
- Hands-on experience with BRDs, FRDs, epics, user stories, and Agile/Scrum practices.
- Basic SQL knowledge and experience analyzing data with SQL.
- Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Excel, and Agile delivery methods.
- Ability to work at a workstream lead level and manage workload independently.

- Support data discovery, sourcing, modelling, and analytics for data flows and data models.
- Create reports and models that explain business data and process performance.
- Use analysis and visualization to identify causes of usability, process, functional, and data issues.
- Act as a product owner when needed for secure data lake feeds, tools, and access design.
- Prepare data specifications with technology and business data stakeholders.
- Participate in process improvement and Agile transformation activities.
- Coordinate with governance teams to improve processes around secure data lake environments and big data technology use.
