Area Collections Manager - Front End

Role Overview

This position focuses on driving recovery outcomes for the delinquent housing finance portfolio in Indore, with the larger goal of improving business profitability through disciplined collections management. The role sits within the risk and compliance ecosystem and supports the identification of early stress indicators, reduction of non-performing assets, and coordination of overdue recovery efforts in partnership with business teams.

What You Will Do

• Lead on-ground collection teams and external agencies to make sure dues are recovered on time across all ageing buckets.
• Build a committed collections group that takes ownership and shows pride in performance.
• Hire, mentor, and coach team members while setting clear goals and tracking progress.
• Ensure all collection activity follows compliance, regulatory, and customer-experience standards.
• Use alternative recovery routes, including legal options, to improve collections and recoveries.
• Conduct frequent and timely performance reviews to strengthen engagement and lift productivity.
• Personally handle customer persuasion and negotiation to secure payment from delinquent borrowers.

Key Challenges

• Working with the collection dynamics of home loan and LAP products.
• Controlling flow rates across buckets and consistently reducing credit losses for the region.
• Handling the legal and documentation-heavy nature of secured lending recovery.
• Gathering customer information that can inform future risk decisions.
• Keeping the team motivated, focused, and consistently upbeat.

Skills and Qualifications

• 7 to 8 years of relevant experience, preferably in a region-in-charge or location head role.
• Exposure to credit functions or other related business lines is an added advantage.
• Experience managing outsourced agencies or vendors.
• Ability to use legal tools effectively to improve collection efficiency.
• High initiative and strong energy levels.
• Capability to design and execute collections strategies effectively.
• Strong leadership, analytical, negotiation, influencing, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Good understanding of market conditions and collections/fraud practices.

The role is focused on field-level collections leadership in the Madhya Pradesh region and involves close coordination with business teams, legal support, and risk stakeholders. The job also requires consistent attention to customer handling, regulatory adherence, and recovery performance improvement.
