Role overview
Tranzit Group is seeking an experienced Workshop Foreman to lead its Palmerston North workshop and help ensure the fleet remains safe, compliant, and ready for service. This opportunity is ideal for a senior diesel mechanic who is prepared to move into a leadership position while still staying closely involved in practical workshop work.
The role sits within a long-established transport business with a nationwide workshop network that supports the movement of buses and coaches across New Zealand, including modern electric vehicle technology.

Key responsibilities
- Guide and support a small workshop team to consistently deliver quality outcomes.
- Make sure the fleet is maintained in a roadworthy and compliant condition for daily operations.
- Keep the workshop clean, orderly, and safe at all times.
- Handle workshop administration, including payroll-related tasks and fleet system updates.
- Coach team members and help build capability across the workshop.
About you
- You are a qualified diesel mechanic with at least 5 years of experience.
- You either bring leadership experience or have the drive and capability to step into a supervisory role.
- You have well-developed diagnostic and fault-finding ability.
- You communicate clearly and lead in a practical, hands-on way.
- You are dependable, well organised, and committed to high standards.
- You hold a full Class 2 driver licence.
