Role overview

This position is focused on helping maintain a safe, orderly, and supportive campus environment. Key responsibilities

• Carry out frequent patrols across campus and remain visibly present and approachable.
• Notice and assist students who may be in distress, involved in conflict, or facing a medical issue, and refer them to Student Affairs, Counselling, or Medical Services as needed.
• Observe student conduct and encourage adherence to university rules and policies.
• Handle behavioural and welfare-related situations using calm de-escalation methods.
• Support emergency procedures and work with security colleagues when an issue needs to be escalated.
• Document incidents accurately while protecting confidentiality.
• Partner with Student Affairs and the Student Welfare Unit to help build a safe, respectful campus culture.

Requirements

• Background in security, student support, customer service, hospitality, education, or a similar environment.
• Excellent verbal communication, people skills, and conflict management ability.
• High levels of empathy, emotional awareness, and cultural sensitivity.
• Understanding of safeguarding practices and emergency response processes.
• First Aid certification is considered an added advantage.
• Capability to write clear incident reports and keep accurate records.
