Utility Person

Overview

Martin Marietta is hiring a Utility Person for its Augusta, Georgia location. The right candidate will be dependable, safety-minded, and self-driven. This role supports several areas of the plant, including maintenance, production, and equipment handling, with a focus on operating safely and efficiently.

The position involves routine upkeep of plant equipment, greasing and lubrication tasks, housekeeping around the site, and general support for day-to-day plant activities. Scheduled hours are from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, with weekend work required when needed.

Key Duties

• Carry out preventive and routine maintenance on mobile and plant equipment, including cutting and welding when directed by the plant manager or another designated supervisor.
• Complete daily pre-shift and post-shift equipment checks and keep maintenance records up to date.
• Use a hand shovel and operate a skid steer, front-end loader, and similar tools to clean around equipment and maintain roads and parking areas.
• Run a water truck to help control dust in the work area.
• Support plant operations in areas such as production, loading, shipping, and quality control.
• Maintain clean, orderly, and safe work areas, including proper traffic movement across the site.
• Operate plant-specific mobile equipment, such as excavators and haul trucks, safely when required.
• Help train co-workers when needed.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent practical experience that supports the duties of the role. Prior exposure to the building materials industry is preferred.
