Urban Designer I

Overview

We are seeking an entry-level Urban Designer I to join the Singapore design team. In this role, you will contribute creative input and production support across the design process, working under routine direction and in line with team methods and project standards.

What you will do

• Support the team with creative work and design assistance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Help advance team and project objectives by maintaining high standards in design quality, execution, and living design principles.
• Carry out research, collect relevant data, and explore ideas for design development.
• Evaluate sites, programs, and other project factors using both quantitative and qualitative methods.
• Create analytical and design drawings at different stages of the process using hand sketching, physical models, digital sketches, digital analysis, and modeling tools.
• Assist in preparing project documentation such as master plan reports, design guidelines, and presentation materials for clients.
• Update drawings, project deliverables, mock-ups, and other materials by coordinating feedback and revisions.
• Help assess zoning and policy constraints and integrate them into design solutions.
• Contribute to strategies for key urban systems such as circulation, open space, buildings, and infrastructure.
• Participate in client and public meetings, discussions, and presentations as needed.
• Take on growing responsibility within project teams and studio activities.
• Apply sound creative judgment throughout the design process.
• Show curiosity, ask questions, and stay engaged with design and broader industry practices.
• Take part in collaborative settings including team discussions, design charrettes, reviews, and pin-ups.
• Maintain clear communication with the team and the designated team lead.
• Present ideas clearly and in a way that encourages and inspires others.
• Coordinate with other design partners and consultants when required.
• Review your own work for accuracy, completeness, readability, and compliance with project delivery requirements.
• Deliver assigned tasks in an organized, timely, and consistent manner within the agreed scope, schedule, and budget.

Experience

This position is suited to candidates with 0 to 3 years of experience in planning and/or urban design projects.

• Experience with physical model making

Education and accreditation

• A bachelor’s degree in urban design, landscape, architecture, or a closely related field is required.
• A professional accreditation in a Living Design area is preferred, such as LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, Passive House Institute Certified Passive House Consultant/Designer (CPHC/CPHD), or ILFI Living Future Accreditation.
