Role Overview
The UI/UX Designer will sit at the crossroads of user experience, visual storytelling, and communication design. The position is a strong fit for someone who can think like a digital product designer while also bringing solid visual design capability across screen and print. A major part of the work involves turning complicated technical information into experiences that are clear, engaging, and easy to understand for audiences supporting scientific and engineering work.
Key Responsibilities
- Create user-focused digital experiences for websites, tools, and interactive content.
- Convert technical ideas and complex subject matter into visual systems that are straightforward and accessible.
- Build wireframes, map user journeys, develop prototypes, and produce polished final designs.
- Work in close partnership with scientists, engineers, writers, and other designers.
- Maintain consistency in visual language across platforms while tailoring output for different audiences.
- Assist the graphics team with design needs beyond digital work, including print and environmental materials.
Required Skills and Experience
- Hands-on experience creating and maintaining design systems.
- Strong understanding of UI, UX, and information architecture principles and methods.
- Excellent visual communication skills, including layout and typography.
- Comfort working across both digital and print design environments.
- Experience handling technical or complex subject matter.
- Strong efficiency, accuracy, and readiness for production work.
- Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Work Mode
This is a remote part-time position.
