Role Overview
This position focuses on leading educational tours and site-based learning sessions. The selected person will keep participants involved, deliver information clearly, and ensure every programme runs safely, smoothly, and in a positive learning atmosphere.
Programme Facilitation
The role requires attendance at a mandatory 2-day training programme and participation in all safety briefings before each tour. Guided tours, learning journeys, and educational sessions must be delivered in English in a lively, interactive, and professional style that promotes discussion and participation. The approach should be adjusted to suit different audience types and group behaviours, while keeping the group engaged throughout the activity.
Participant Management
The facilitator will manage groups professionally during programme sessions, respond politely and effectively to questions or concerns, and maintain the safety and wellbeing of all participants. Continuous supervision is required so that participants are never left unattended during the programme.
Operational Support
The role includes arriving at programme venues at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time to prepare for participants. The facilitator must also set up, use, and maintain portable audio equipment such as microphones and speakers, and make sure all materials and equipment are ready and working before each session begins.
Reporting and Feedback
Questions, comments, and participant feedback need to be recorded and submitted in reports within the required timelines. Any operational issues, participant concerns, or ideas for improvement should be escalated to management promptly.
Professional Standards
A consistently professional appearance and conduct are expected. The role must be carried out in line with organisational policies, safety rules, and programme procedures. Smoking, alcohol consumption, and being under the influence of alcohol while on duty are not permitted. The facilitator must also avoid making unauthorised promotional statements or representing the organisation publicly without approval.
Requirements
Candidates should have experience in tour guiding, educational facilitation, public engagement, customer service, or a similar field. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities are needed, along with confidence in speaking to groups and handling questions professionally. The job also calls for the ability to engage different audiences, manage group interactions well, work outdoors at various locations, and operate independently as well as within a team. English proficiency is essential, and knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
A tour guide licence is preferred. Prior work in guided tours, learning journeys, environmental education, or public outreach will be beneficial. Familiarity with portable audio equipment and event facilitation is also useful, and first aid certification is considered an advantage.
