Solar PV Electrician

Role overview

CCS is looking for a Solar PV Electrician to carry out solar photovoltaic installations and related work across housing association properties, private customer sites, and new-build developments. The role focuses on delivering installations that are safe, efficient, compliant, and completed to a high standard.

Core duties

• Fit Solar PV systems in line with MCS requirements, PAS 2035, manufacturer instructions, and company processes.
• Work to the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and maintain compliance with all relevant industry codes and standards.
• Deliver installations, repairs, minor alterations, and remedial call-backs with a strong emphasis on quality and safety.
• Attend urgent breakdown jobs, identify faults promptly, and take effective action to restore service.
• Coordinate with the project manager to support quality control under the QMS and company quality manual.
• Handle customer interactions professionally and treat residents and clients with courtesy and respect.
• Keep customers informed about work progress and ensure scheduled appointments are honoured.
• Maintain tools, calibrated equipment, and PPE in proper working condition and use them correctly at all times.
• Raise parts orders and manage stock to avoid interruptions or delays to work.
• Update handheld devices and back-office systems with job progress and completion details.
• Flag any changes or additional work requirements to the administration team.
• Prepare certificates, job sheets, compliance records, timesheets, delivery notes, and expense submissions accurately and on time.
• Attend briefings, company meetings, and training sessions when required.

Required background and qualities

• Hands-on ability in Solar PV installation work.
• NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification, in Electrical Systems.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
• BPEC Solar PV qualification or an equivalent certification.
• At least 3 years of experience in electrical or Solar PV installations.
• Experience delivering work in the social housing sector on installation projects and maintenance contracts.
• Experience dealing directly with residents and clients.
• A full UK driving licence with no issues, plus the ability to pass a DBS check.
• Confidence using mobile PDA devices for job tracking and reporting.
• Strong punctuality, professionalism, adaptability, and a willingness to keep developing.
