Role Overview
Nuclear Promise X is looking for a Software Developer Intern to support forward-looking projects in the nuclear sector. In this position, you will help design, develop, and roll out software solutions that make work more effective, while also getting practical exposure to AI-powered applications, current technical architectures, and real user requirements.
You will contribute to a combination of software and AI-assisted solutions, helping create features, test new concepts, and move tools into production. This is a practical, hands-on opportunity where you will partner with developers and business stakeholders to deliver solutions that improve efficiency, safety, and decision-making.
This opportunity suits someone who enjoys learning, adapts quickly, and is eager to explore both AI development and full-stack development depending on their background and interests.
Work Location and Timing
The role is remote, with work to be performed from Ontario, Canada.
Planned start date: September 8, 2026.
Initial duration: 4 months, with the possibility of an extension.
Travel may be required to the office 2 to 3 times during the co-op term.
Compensation
Pay is listed at $26 to $31 per hour, depending on academic level.
Condition of Employment
A nuclear security clearance is required as a condition of employment. The employer will assist through the clearance process.
What You Will Do
In this role, you will help develop, test, and support software and AI-enabled solutions, while contributing to features, tools, and small-scale applications.
- Build and maintain software and AI-supported solutions.
- Create features, tools, and lightweight applications.
- Assist with the design and deployment of AI-based capabilities such as agents and automation.
- Work with stakeholders to convert business needs into technical solutions.
- Investigate issues, fix bugs, and improve existing applications.
- Support testing, integration, and release activities.
- Work iteratively using feedback, experimentation, and continuous learning.
Tech stack includes React, Next.js, Python, Azure, Minio, Weaviate, Ollama, Postgres, and Redis.
