Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Site Electrical Engineer with a strong execution focus to join the project delivery team on a full-time, site-based assignment for a major utility-scale solar project north of Auckland.

This position is very hands-on and centered on site delivery. You will coordinate electrical construction work, make sure installation, testing, commissioning, and energisation are completed safely and efficiently, and ensure all work aligns with approved designs, project specifications, and New Zealand electrical requirements.

Working in close partnership with the Construction Manager, Senior Project Manager, engineering teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and client representatives, you will provide technical support for electrical works, assist with construction planning, monitor subcontractor performance, and help deliver quality outcomes through to final handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate electrical construction activities across the project, including installation, testing, commissioning, and energisation of solar electrical systems.
• Assist with construction planning, scheduling, resource coordination, and delivery of electrical works against project milestones, specifications, and design intent.
• Oversee electrical subcontractors and site crews to ensure safe work practices, quality compliance, and efficient progress.
• Examine electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documents, and support RFIs, design reviews, issue resolution, and buildability improvements.
• Carry out inspections, quality verification, and technical assessments to confirm compliance with New Zealand electrical standards, project requirements, and successful handover.

About You

You are an experienced electrical professional with a track record in large-scale infrastructure, renewable energy, or industrial electrical projects.

You bring strong site supervision and subcontractor management capability, with the confidence to drive safe and high-quality delivery.

You hold an Electrical Engineering qualification or have equivalent trade-based experience, along with a current NZ Electrical Registration and Practising Licence (EWRB).

You understand electrical installation, commissioning, testing, and construction methods, and can interpret drawings and technical specifications accurately.

You are proactive, solutions-oriented, and able to communicate effectively with project teams, contractors, and other stakeholders.

Additional Information

This is a full-time, site-based role located north of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand. The position is focused on execution during the construction phase and through commissioning and handover of a major solar project.
