Senior Embedded Security Engineer (Qualcomm)

Role overview

This position is for a Senior Embedded Security Engineer focused on Qualcomm-based environments in the UAE. The role centers on building, integrating, and checking cybersecurity capabilities for embedded and cyber-physical platforms so that hardware, firmware, operating systems, networking, and applications all operate securely.

What you will do

• Engineer security solutions for embedded and Linux-based operating system platforms.
• Bring together security features such as Secure Boot, Chain of Trust, Trusted Execution Environments, TPMs, Secure Elements, and hardware-backed key storage.
• Build and support security-sensitive software components, including services, libraries, drivers, and tools used across embedded and security infrastructure.
• Help design, integrate, and validate secure communication setups and networking protections for embedded environments.
• Harden embedded Linux systems through secure kernel settings, service hardening, and access-control measures.
• Assist with the integration and validation of cryptographic services, PKI systems, certificate handling, and device identity frameworks.
• Work closely with hardware, firmware, operating system, networking, and application teams to ensure security requirements are implemented consistently.
• Carry out security analysis, threat modeling, vulnerability reviews, and remediation work.
• Develop and maintain device drivers and interfaces needed for hardware security modules and peripherals.
• Support secure provisioning, manufacturing security, key injection, and secure device onboarding processes.
• Take part in security testing, verification, validation, and penetration testing efforts.
• Contribute to architecture reviews and offer technical recommendations to strengthen platform resilience.

Requirements

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a closely related field. A master’s degree is an added advantage. The role expects at least 7 years of relevant experience in embedded software development, embedded cybersecurity, embedded Linux development, or platform security engineering. The experience should be hands-on and focused on implementing security features in embedded systems, not limited to governance or compliance work. Candidates must have practical experience building and integrating software for embedded and Linux-based platforms, along with a solid understanding of networking concepts, communication protocols, and secure communication technologies used in embedded systems.

Preferred background

Experience enabling, integrating, and validating security capabilities on Qualcomm platforms is especially valued. Familiarity with Qualcomm IQ-series platforms, including IQ9, as well as Qualcomm Snapdragon, RB/QCS platforms, NVIDIA Jetson/Orin, NXP i.MX, STM32, or similar embedded systems will be useful. Strong exposure to Secure Boot, TPM 2.0, TrustZone, OP-TEE, PKCS#11, cryptographic libraries, and secure storage technologies is preferred, along with Linux kernel configuration, Linux hardening, and device driver development. Proficiency in one or more of C, C++, Go, Rust, or Python is also desirable. Prior work in robotics, drones, automotive, industrial control systems, IoT, or other mission-critical embedded environments is an advantage. Familiarity with ISO/SAE 21434, IEC 62443, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, or similar practices is also beneficial.
