Role overview
In this showroom-based role, you will be the first point of contact for visitors and phone callers. The position involves helping customers choose suitable products, handling sales and stock tasks, processing transactions, and keeping the showroom presentable and well organized.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver considerate, high-quality service to customers on the showroom floor.
- Answer incoming calls and respond with a friendly, clear, and helpful telephone manner.
- Keep the showroom neat, orderly, and customer-ready at all times.
- Replenish shelves regularly and ensure tools and machinery are displayed safely and clearly marked with prices.
- Use the company’s computer system to complete sales, check inventory, and record orders.
What the role requires
- A strong eye for presentation and a proactive approach to maintaining displays and stock levels.
- The physical ability to lift products, restock shelves, and move retail inventory as needed.
- Comfort using computers, including point-of-sale and inventory systems.
- Clear verbal communication and a confident, professional phone manner.
- A patient, approachable style when dealing with customers in person and by phone.
- Interest in woodworking, carpentry, DIY, or machinery, or prior exposure to those areas.
Working conditions and additional details
The workplace is located at 110 Harris Road, East Tāmaki, Auckland. Store hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, and the business currently operates on standard weekday hours. Full training is provided on internal systems as well as the company’s local and international brands. After an initial period, staff discounts on tools and machinery are available. The role also comes with free on-site parking and a close-knit team environment.
