About the Company
Novotel Wellington is based in the centre of Wellington’s CBD and features 139 generously sized guest rooms with modern interiors and harbour-facing views. Role Overview
As the first point of contact for guests, you will help shape a positive stay from arrival through to departure. In this front office role, you will support guests with check-in, check-out, and day-to-day enquiries while helping ensure every interaction feels smooth and welcoming.
Key Duties
- Greet visitors from across the world and build rapport with both first-time and returning guests.
- Handle guest details, payments, and arrival/departure procedures accurately and professionally.
- Share local recommendations and present hotel services and facilities, including opportunities to upsell in order to support occupancy and revenue goals.
- Manage guest belongings securely, following the correct records and storage processes.
- Encourage use of the Accor loyalty programmes to improve guest satisfaction and strengthen brand loyalty.
- Coordinate closely with colleagues and other departments such as Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and Reservations to keep operations running efficiently.
Working Pattern
This is a part-time role on a rotating 7-day roster. Availability is required for both morning and afternoon shifts, including weekdays, weekends, and public holidays.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant is friendly, dependable, and passionate about service. Prior hotel receptionist experience is preferred but not mandatory.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Strong communication ability across written, spoken, and non-verbal channels.
- Well-organised with strong attention to detail and the confidence to take initiative.
- Experience in reservations is considered an advantage.
- Experience using Opera Cloud, TARS, or another property management system is preferred.
- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Must be an NZ resident or hold a valid permanent New Zealand work visa; visa sponsorship is not available.
