Role Overview
Entertainment Tonight is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented Production Assistant with a strong feel for pop culture to support the news desk. This is an entry-level opportunity for someone eager to learn quickly, contribute under pressure, and grow within a major entertainment news environment.
The main focus of the role is supporting newsroom operations. A large part of the day will involve creating and organizing folders, bringing in footage, pulling assets, and making sure producers have everything they need to build stories. Beyond the technical side, the team values strong editorial judgment—if you spot a valuable archival clip while working through breaking-story materials, you’re expected to recognize its potential and flag it.
Key Duties
- Manage media by bringing in shoot footage, labeling and logging assets, and setting up well-structured folders that allow segment producers to write efficiently.
- Produce transcripts from celebrity interviews and field shoots accurately and within deadline.
- Collect supporting materials such as b-roll, photos, social media clips, and archival content while keeping track of usage rights and credits.
- Assist producers with research, fact-checking, and general content preparation across broadcast, digital, and social platforms.
- Help prepare for rundown meetings by gathering and assembling daily photo documents, including paparazzi and social imagery, to support editorial decisions.
- Provide support in studio and in the field, including crew assistance, errands, and other hands-on help during shoots.
- Step in across departments wherever additional coverage is needed.
Candidate Profile
This role suits someone who is deeply plugged into pop culture, works quickly and accurately, and stays organized when things get busy. You should be comfortable communicating with a team, handling pressure well, and spotting the difference between a strong sound bite and a line that should be left out.
A degree or internship experience in television, film, or a related area is helpful but not mandatory. Applicants must also be able to pass a short celebrity knowledge quiz.
