Role overview
Sezzle is looking for a strong Product QA Tester who brings both technical judgment and people awareness to the role. This is a fast-moving environment with room to grow, where the right person will look beyond checklists, care deeply about user experience, and spot risks before they become production issues.
You will work across the product stack, including mobile apps built in React Native, web interfaces, and API layers. You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and designers to help the team release with confidence.
The team is AI-first, and this role is expected to use tools such as Claude to work more efficiently—whether that means producing test cases, challenging assumptions, or exploring edge conditions more deeply than manual review alone would allow.
Working hours
- First week during onboarding: 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm India time, which corresponds to 4:00 am to 12:00 pm Central Time.
- After onboarding: 12:30 pm to 8:30 pm India time, which corresponds to 2:00 am to 10:00 am Central Time.
Key responsibilities
You will own quality for assigned features and releases, from planning through post-release verification.
- Create, document, and run test plans for new features, regression rounds, and complex edge cases across mobile, web, and API surfaces.
- Review requirements and design work early so problems are identified before development starts.
- Keep test coverage records current so the team always knows what has been validated and what still needs coverage.
- Investigate and reproduce defects in enough detail for engineers to act quickly without repeated clarification.
- Join sprint planning and design reviews to uncover risks and missing details as early as possible.
- Escalate quality issues through the right channels with clear reasoning and practical mitigation ideas.
- Track post-release behavior and identify regressions before customers are affected.
- Recommend improvements to QA practices, tooling, and test infrastructure when better approaches are available.
- Validate not only explicit requirements but also UX consistency, copy accuracy, accessibility, and realistic user flows.
- Compare acceptance criteria with live behavior carefully and call out unclear or contradictory requirements instead of assuming.
- Use AI tools to generate, refine, and pressure-test test scenarios, defect reports, and documentation.
- Apply judgment to AI-generated output and expand it with your own analysis of edge cases, boundaries, and failure paths.
- Stay up to date with AI-assisted QA methods and contribute fresh ideas to improve the team’s workflow.
Requirements
- 2 to 5 years of experience in product QA or software testing.
- Hands-on testing experience across mobile, web, and API-based products.
- Proven ability to write detailed, reusable test cases that others can follow.
- Experience using bug tracking tools such as Jira or similar systems.
- Ability to create defect reports that are clear, specific, and actionable.
- Experience testing on both iOS and Android, including awareness of device and operating-system fragmentation.
- Comfort with developer tools, network inspection, and reading logs to troubleshoot before escalating.
- Basic SQL or data-query skills are an advantage.
- Exposure to automation frameworks is an advantage.
- Practical, active use of AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or equivalent in work or personal projects is required.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- Ability to think critically, notice small details, act proactively, and challenge decisions respectfully when needed.

Compensation
