Role overview
Join Lotto New Zealand in a procurement leadership role based in Auckland. In this position, you will serve as the main source of procurement guidance and operational support across the organisation, helping different teams make well-reasoned, fair, and commercially responsible sourcing decisions.
You will work alongside internal stakeholders to clarify their needs, design practical procurement plans, and steer sourcing and tender activities that support strong public value outcomes.
What you will do
- Create and shape sourcing approaches that suit the business need
- Assist with tender activity, including work carried out through GETS
- Coach teams on sound procurement practices
- Provide guidance on supplier performance and contract management
- Support commercial discussions and negotiations
You will also contribute to improving procurement frameworks and internal processes so the organisation continues meeting its responsibilities as a Crown Entity.
Team and reporting line
This role sits within the Legal and Procurement team and reports to the General Counsel. It involves close collaboration with teams across the business and requires someone who can advise, challenge, and support others through procurement, supplier, and contract-related decisions.
This is an influential role with a real opportunity to shape how procurement is handled across the organisation. You will help build internal capability, improve consistency, and support decisions that balance value, risk, compliance, and the broader mission of returning all profits to communities across Aotearoa.
About you
You are an experienced procurement professional with a practical, team-oriented mindset and strong commercial judgement. You are comfortable working with a diverse range of stakeholders and can explain procurement concepts clearly in a fast-paced environment.
You bring solid communication, planning, and relationship-building skills, along with hands-on experience in sourcing, tendering, supplier management, and commercial negotiation.
Experience with the Government Procurement Rules and GETS would be a strong advantage, and exposure to technology procurement would also be beneficial.
A relevant qualification in commercial practice, procurement, or supply chain management, such as CIPS, is preferred, although equivalent experience will also be considered.
Ideal personal attributes
The organisation is looking for someone who is curious, pragmatic, and able to exercise sound judgement while helping the business get the best value from its suppliers and partners.
