About the Role
The Walt Disney Company is an international entertainment and media enterprise with businesses spanning theme parks and resorts, film and television, home entertainment, consumer products, cruise operations, broadcasting, publishing, and more. This opportunity sits within the Corporate Legal Litigation group in Anaheim, California, supporting a wide range of legal work for a highly diversified global business.
The Litigation Group plays a central role in supporting the company’s businesses across legal matters, and this position will contribute to case preparation alongside in-house lawyers, outside counsel, and senior litigation paralegals. The matters handled may include employment, personal injury, consumer, and disability access cases.
Key Duties
- Support legal work involving litigation as well as advice-and-counsel matters.
- Gather documents and records from multiple business teams.
- Draft replies and summaries connected to claims, demand letters, and litigation-related requests.
- Check and update pleadings, discovery responses, and other court documents.
- Help organize and participate in witness interviews and depositions.
- Support responses to subpoenas.
- Assist with small claims matters and replies to administrative complaints.
- Coordinate and attend site visits throughout the Disneyland Resort property.
- Because the operation runs 24 hours, the role requires flexibility for after-hours inspections and witness interviews.
- Help prepare and send legal hold notices.
- Support senior paralegals with database tasks, including case files and subpoena tracking.
Requirements and Qualifications
- At least 1 year of litigation experience gained in a respected law firm or a large in-house legal department.
- Comfort handling several cases and priorities at the same time.
- Ability to carry out factual research.
- Working knowledge of document collection and electronic discovery.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with sound judgment.
- Prior experience at the Disneyland Resort or another Disney-affiliated company is an advantage.
Education
A bachelor’s degree is required, or an equivalent paralegal qualification through certification, education, and work experience in line with the American Bar Association and applicable state codes.
Work Arrangement
This role is based at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. The position follows a hybrid-style office schedule with 4 days per week in the office, from Monday through Thursday.
Compensation and Benefits
The hiring range for this California position is $72,000 to $96,500 per year, based on a 40-hour workweek. Weekly hours may change depending on business requirements. Actual pay will reflect internal equity, geography, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay, the package may include a bonus and/or long-term incentive units, plus the company’s full range of medical, financial, and other benefits depending on the level and position offered.
