Network and Firewall Engineer

Role overview

Movate Technologies is looking for a Network Engineer in Chennai with solid experience in routing, switching, firewall administration, and VPN operations. This is a full-time position focused on building, supporting, and securing network infrastructure across different vendor environments while keeping services stable, resilient, and highly available.

What you will do

• Set up, deploy, and support enterprise LAN and WAN infrastructure.
• Manage and troubleshoot routing and switching setups.
• Administer firewall policies and VPN access for both site-to-site and remote users.
• Track network health and work to reduce downtime while maintaining availability.
• Investigate issues, identify root causes, and close incidents effectively.
• Follow network security standards and recommended practices.
• Work with other teams on upgrades, enhancements, and infrastructure changes.
• Keep network diagrams, configuration records, and change documentation up to date.

Skills and expertise needed

• Practical experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 routing and switching concepts.
• Working knowledge of firewall platforms such as Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Check Point.
• Ability to configure and troubleshoot VPN connections.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
• Experience working in environments with multiple vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, and Fortinet.
• Exposure to network monitoring and observability tools.
• Good grasp of core network security principles.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.

Experience

The preferred background is 5 to 8 years in network engineering, though this can be adjusted based on the employer's requirements.
