Role overview
This position supports the mortgage lending process by coordinating between loan officers and underwriters, checking applications for completeness, validating financial details, and making sure the correct paperwork is delivered on time. The role can be performed remotely, but the selected candidate must live in Colorado so they can be available for occasional in-person branch visits.
Key responsibilities
- Confirm that each originated loan fits the available mortgage programs and investor requirements.
- Examine and interpret all received loan documents, including appraisals, applications, credit reports, income records, asset information, and title insurance.
- Review ratios, verify automated underwriting system results, and confirm the appropriate program can be used.
- Enter loan-file information accurately into the required systems.
- Prepare applications and outstanding conditions for submission to the underwriter.
- Arrange third-party reports and supporting documentation.
- Keep mortgage loan officers informed with timely status updates.
- Spot possible file issues and raise them promptly with the mortgage loan officer.
- Track processing progress to help ensure the loan closes on schedule.
- Collect and confirm all underwriting condition clearances and get the file ready for closing.
- Maintain regular, reliable attendance as an essential part of the role.
- Take on additional related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and experience
- Strong attention to detail, plus the ability to handle multiple priorities and stay organized.
- Comfort working in a busy environment with an interest in continued professional development.
- Capable of working on your own with limited oversight.
- Self-motivated, able to perform well under pressure, and dependable about meeting deadlines.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Understanding of banking compliance rules and how to apply them.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Additional college coursework in real estate or business is preferred.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- Must already have, or be able to obtain, a valid Colorado driver’s license.
- At least 5 years of experience in a mortgage department within a financial institution, title company, or real estate company.
- At least 3 years of mortgage loan processing experience and familiarity with FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, and VA guidelines is preferred.
- Experience with Encompass LOS is preferred.
- An equivalent mix of education and experience may be considered on a year-for-year basis.
Work environment and conditions
This is a professional office role that regularly uses standard equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Occasional travel may be needed for conferences, meetings, and branch locations. Telecommuting may be available.
The role is mostly sedentary, though some filing, reaching, lifting, opening file cabinets, and occasional standing on a stool may be required. The job involves regular speaking and hearing, and requires close, distance, and color vision as well as the ability to adjust focus. The employee may need to lift up to 25 pounds.

Compensation and closing date
Starting pay ranges from $25.00 to $30.00 per hour, depending on experience. The position is expected to close on May 1, 2026, unless it is filled earlier.
