Role Overview
MERENA, part of The National Cybersecurity Center, is developing a new consumer cyber-safety offering. Its AI-driven personal cyber advisor is designed to help everyday users better understand online risk and take practical steps to protect accounts, devices, identities, and private information. The product has already gained more than 12,000 users since April, showing clear product-market fit and demand in an underserved market.
This opening is for a hands-on marketing professional who can own everyday execution for a fast-moving, early-stage, mission-led startup. The role calls for someone who works well without a lot of structure, can move quickly, enjoys building from scratch, and can turn ideas into campaigns that improve awareness, sign-ups, engagement, and growth. The position also plays a part in shaping how MERENA communicates cyber safety in simple, trustworthy language and is part of the founding team.
Work Location and Setup
The role is based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with a hybrid setup that requires working from the office three days each week.
What You Will Do
- Take ownership of daily marketing work across email, social media, content, websites, campaigns, partnerships, and other digital channels.
- Develop and coordinate customer-facing marketing materials such as email campaigns, social media posts, campaign messaging, landing page content, newsletters, blog articles, and product announcements.
- Plan and support direct-to-consumer campaigns aimed at improving awareness, sign-ups, activation, engagement, retention, and referrals.
- Contribute to growth efforts driven by viral loops, referrals, community engagement, and partners.
- Measure performance across marketing channels and share results related to traffic, conversions, activation, engagement, retention, referrals, and campaign outcomes.
- Carry out market, customer, and competitor research to improve positioning, audience targeting, messaging, and campaign direction.
- Translate cybersecurity and online safety topics into clear, practical, non-technical communication for consumers.
- Maintain marketing calendars, campaign processes, content assets, reporting, and essential marketing tools.
- Work closely with leadership, product, engineering, partners, agencies, and vendors to keep initiatives on track.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in marketing, growth marketing, digital marketing, lifecycle marketing, consumer marketing, demand generation, or a closely related area.
- Strong writing and editing ability, especially for consumer-facing communications.
- Proven experience taking campaigns from idea stage through launch and performance reporting.
- Comfort working with analytics, funnel metrics, dashboards, and campaign measurement.
- Working familiarity with tools such as Google Analytics, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Webflow, WordPress, Canva, Lovable, social scheduling tools, ad platforms, or similar software.
- Ability to work independently, set priorities, solve problems, and make steady progress without extensive direction.
- Comfort operating in an early-stage startup environment where priorities may shift quickly.
- Ability to work on a hybrid basis in Colorado Springs, including three in-office days per week.
Preferred Experience
- Background in consumer direct marketing.
- Exposure to viral marketing, referral programs, community-led growth, or organic social growth.
- Experience in cybersecurity, privacy, fraud prevention, identity protection, AI, SaaS, or technology-related businesses.
- Ability to simplify technical subjects into easy-to-understand messaging.
- Experience with marketing automation, lifecycle campaigns, A/B testing, SEO, paid social, or conversion optimization.
- UX/UI design experience.
- Previous work in a startup or small-team setting.
Who Will Succeed in This Role
MERENA is looking for someone who is curious, practical, analytical, and action-oriented. The ideal person enjoys testing ideas, learning from data, and improving marketing on an ongoing basis. This is a role for someone who is comfortable building without a perfect roadmap and who wants to help create one.
