Core responsibilities
- Lead complete payroll processing for all APAC entities, including Singapore, Australia, Japan, South Korea, India, and China, and ensure every cycle is completed accurately and on time.
- Oversee employee status changes such as hires, exits, promotions, and compensation adjustments so they are reflected correctly in CloudPay and Workday.
- Act as the regional expert for CloudPay and Workday, keeping country-level payroll rules, tax logic, and data mappings correctly configured.
- Monitor the Workday-to-CloudPay connection to ensure data transfers are accurate and resolve mismatches before payroll runs.
- Stay current on payroll laws, tax updates, and statutory filing obligations across all active APAC jurisdictions.
- Manage in-country payroll vendors across the region and serve as the coordination point between Airbnb, CloudPay, and local providers.
- Prepare and file payroll reports, tax submissions, and statutory payments, while maintaining audit-ready records and a clear data trail for each cycle.
- Work with Talent, Finance, Global Mobility, and Tax teams to keep employee data accurate and resolve payroll queries quickly and professionally.
- Maintain and improve country-specific process documentation and runbooks for APAC payroll operations.
- Identify opportunities to streamline, improve, and automate payroll processes across the region.
- Provide backup support for the India Payroll Manager and maintain working knowledge of India payroll processes.
Required experience and capabilities
- 6 to 8+ years of payroll experience, including 3 to 4 years in a dedicated APAC payroll management role.
- Proven, practical experience using CloudPay in an international payroll environment, including configuration, data mapping, and processing.
- Proven, practical experience with Workday Payroll or Workday HCM, including system integration work with CloudPay or a comparable platform.
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation and statutory compliance across multiple APAC countries, with Singapore required and experience in Australia, Japan, India, and/or South Korea preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical thinking, curiosity, and the ability to juggle multiple payroll cycles across different legal frameworks.
- Experience managing payroll vendors and external service providers across APAC.
- Strong process-mapping and documentation skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and maintain a high level of integrity.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with comfort working across time zones and cultures in a fully distributed team.
