Role overview

Owens Corning is hiring multiple General Production Workers for its high-volume interior door plant in Chilliwack (Yarrow), British Columbia. The facility produces between 6,000 and 10,000 doors each day, and this role plays an important part in meeting daily trim production goals.

As a member of the Layup Team, you will support the day-to-day door manufacturing process by handling raw materials and door components, assembling product, and moving materials through different stages of production. Team members rotate across Layup functions to provide cross-coverage and help keep operations running smoothly.

This is a fast-moving production environment where doors are physically assembled. The work involves repeated motions throughout the shift and requires standing for the full working day while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Feeding responsibilities

• Review the daily production plan and use it to confirm the correct product build.
• Send the required door components through the glue spreader and stay alert so Builders receive materials on time.
• Place components in the correct sequence according to the build schedule.

Building responsibilities

• Check the daily production schedule to ensure each door is assembled correctly.
• Guide skins along the automatic conveyor line and use the foot pedal on the scissor lift to control movement.
• Receive components from the glue spreader and arrange them in the proper pattern on the laid skin, then add the second skin to complete the door.
• Keep a close eye on placement accuracy and maintain the required pace of work.

Other duties

• Attend Tier 1 meetings and complete the daily stretching routine.
• Use production schedules to identify the parts needed for each order.
• Keep the Layup area clean and support general housekeeping tasks.
• Follow all safety procedures and standard operating practices, and report concerns quickly to the First Aid Attendant, Team Lead, or Supervisor.
• Wear required PPE at all times.

Qualifications

• You must be at least 18 years old.
• No prior experience is necessary because training is provided.
• You should be physically able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Strong attendance is important.
• You need to handle repetitive tasks and a fast-paced production setting.
• A strong safety mindset is essential.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude are required.
• Being mechanically inclined is an advantage.
• Attention to detail is important.
• You should be flexible and comfortable adapting to change.

Compensation and benefits

The pay rate is $22.00 per hour plus a $1.00 per hour night shift premium.

After successful completion of the 90-day probation period, employees become eligible for the benefits package, RRSP, and employee stock purchase plan.

Schedule

• Night shift
• Monday to Thursday: 4:30 pm to 3:00 am
• Occasional Friday overtime may be scheduled for 5 to 8 hours
